What is Etsy Shop Manager, and what are its advantages?

The Etsy Shop Manager is a quick and easy way for entrepreneurs with an open shop to get access to important shop information. By signing in and going to the Shop Manager page, you may log in and access the Etsy Shop Manager.

This post discusses the benefits of using Etsy Shop Manager to develop your online business. It details how it may help you reach your objectives for 2023.

Do you want to sell on Etsy? Do you require assistance with learning how to utilize your account? Fortunately, the Etsy Shop Manager is designed for new vendors like yourself and makes it easy.

Knowing where everything is is critical to get the most out of your account. The Shop Manager will provide information on items you’ve sold, orders that are still open, payment options accepted, and so on.

Now let us discuss some of the initial things you’ll discover in the Etsy Shop Manager so that you may start making better use of your account!

Etsy Shop Manager – What is Inside it?

The Etsy Shop Manager may be intimidating to those just starting out with an Etsy store. Today, we’ll show you how the Etsy Shop Manager works. The dashboard will soon become apparent to you as being user-friendly and straightforward.

After signing in to Etsy Shop Manager, you will see a menu on the left. Let’s go through each of the options one by one today.

#1: Dashboard in Etsy Shop Manager

The Etsy Shop Manager is the first page that appears when you open your Etsy account:

It’s a summary of your business. The first thing you’ll notice is your most recent sales report. After that, I believe some items aren’t as essential as others.

#2: Search in Etsy Shop Manager

You may search for product descriptions, discussions, and other information, in addition to looking for orders.

#3: Listings in Etsy Shop Manager

This page shows all of your product listings. When you choose at least one of your items, buttons on the top will become clickable if you view this page:

  1. Renew: After a product is added, it must sell in four months. If not, the listing will be deleted. If it expires, you’ll have to renew it. In the description, there’s a choice for “Automatic Renewal” or “Manual Renewal.” You may also skip this button if you choose automatic renewal.
  2. Deactivate: If you choose this option, the product listing will be hidden from Etsy Marketplace.
  3. Delete: It’s easy. The product will be off the Etsy site.

Aside from the three buttons above, you may change various other settings. I’ll leave them for now. In any case, they’re simple enough.

If you click on one of the items on this page, you will be taken to another page with additional information about it. We initially used the same page to create the listings that we do presently.

There’s also a filter on the right side of this Listing page. Use the “Expired” option if you have too many listings. To show only expired items, deselect “Expired” and renew them all at once.

There’s also a feature that I find pretty helpful. The button on the right-hand side, labeled “Stats,” is another function that I think is worthwhile. When you select this option, the listings below will be shown as statistics.

Click the black button in the upper right corner to post a new listing.

#4: Messages in Etsy Shop Manager

It’s conceivable that clients will contact you. You may also want to thank the client after someone purchases your items to improve customer care. The buyer can be reached here by sending a message. These messages can be viewed in Etsy Shop Manager – Messages panel.

#5: Orders & Delivery

When you place an order, this page will be displayed. After you’ve sent your items out, you may visit this page and choose the order. Then choose “Mark as completed” from the drop-down menu that appears.

Etsy will inform the buyer that you’ve already sent the items once they accept them. When you click “Complete” after accepting the offer, your purchase will be updated to “Completed.”

#6: Finances

There are three subcategories in Finances.

1. Payment Accounts:

Next, you’ll see how much Etsy will transfer you on the next payment date.

You’ll find more information at the bottom of each transaction. You may also see how much Etsy has charged for your purchases.

The following graph displays your expenditures and income. On the left side, you may see how much money you make when you sell your goods. The expenditure side of the equation shows what you spend money on. This includes Etsy fees and marketing costs if you use Etsy Ads.

By default, this page shows only the most recent month’s information. Simply click “See all monthly statements” at the bottom to see past months’ statements.

2. Payment Settings

After we initially opened our store, most options in the Etsy Shop manager Payment settings were edited. They’re divided into tabs below:

  1. Payment Methods: The bank information we established when we first opened the store.
  2. Currency: I didn’t see a way to change the currency and country on the Account page, but I don’t believe you can alter them once they’ve been set. Only the currency of your company is displayed on this tab.
  3. Billing: The payment card information we provided when we opened the business. You’ll have to settle on Etsy if your expenditure is more significant than your revenue.
  4. Address: If Etsy needs to ship something to you (rarely), they may need your physical address.

We didn’t set up one of the tabs when we first launched the firm. That’s sales tax for you again. Until now, I had no idea they existed.

I found out one day that clients had not paid any fees. Then I realized that tax rates must be published here. I’m in charge of the province’s tax rates, not just one.

Etsy is an excellent source of information for artists and sellers about their customers. Each country has its own customs regarding Etsy sales, which entails that Etsy will calculate how much tax should be charged and collect them for you. Etsy won’t do it for you if you don’t charge any taxes.

3. Legal and Tax information

If you live outside of the United States, you may safely skip this page.

Etsy must disclose how much money it pays sellers as soon as it files its taxes. We’re in Canada, not the United States. As a consequence, we have no bearing on their tax circumstances. Only US sellers are obligated to include their Taxpayer ID here.

If the goods are from Germany, the seller must also upload a copy of his/her VAT paperwork.

If you’re in the United States and don’t have a German VAT certificate, visitors to this page may simply pass by.

#7: Marketing

In Marketing, there are a few subcategories as well:

Search Analysis

This is a new feature. Feel free to try it.

Basically, it informs you about the keywords consumers on Etsy were looking for while visiting your store.

Sales and Coupons

This page can be used for several promotions. I think that should be discussed in greater detail in another video. In a nutshell, you may use these pages to run specific Etsy-endorsed campaigns.

You may also design your own coupons if you wish. Let’s not go into that right now. I might expand on the subject in a future post.

Social Media

I’m not sure if we’ve used it yet, but this page may be beneficial. Here, you may link to your social media profiles. For the time being, they give you access to Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram so you can link to them.

There are several excellent locations to sell your items. The benefit is that Etsy has already supplied the photographs. All you have to do now is click and share.

Custom Web Address in Etsy Shop Manager

This choice is only available to Etsy Plus members. Only Etsy Plus subscribers can modify the addresses on their stores.

#8: Integrations

Etsy has relationships with several other companies, including Shopify. You may include your Etsy product link when posting a pin on Pinterest. When the user clicks on the pin, he or she will be sent to your product listing page. There are also integration capabilities in specific accounting programs.

Let’s pretend you linked your account to QuickBooks (for United States sellers only). Your transactions and/or anything connected to money will be immediately sent to QuickBooks. You’ll be able to finish your bookkeeping fast.

You don’t have to keep track of them one by one. Many individuals believe that bookkeeping is not a big deal. However, when it comes to tax time, you will go crazy. I promise you! Don’t ask why I am aware of it.

#9: Community & Help in Etsy Shop Manager

To be honest, I don’t come here very often. I’ll just Google my query if I’m having trouble selling on Etsy.

The nice thing is that Etsy’s Seller Guide usually ranks first in the SERPs. It generally solves my problems. As a result, I don’t feel compelled to get help from the community.

#10: Settings in Etsy Shop Manager

Subscription

You can upgrade your membership to Etsy Plus here. It’s a monthly charge. Etsy offers you several advantages, which are listed on this page.

Info & Appearance

You can change the company logo, receipt banner, and basic shop information here.

Aside from that, there are two more tabs:

  1. Policies: This tab is of no use. On your shop page, you can update your policies. Later, I’ll walk you through how to do it.
  2. Shop Name: You can change the name of your store here.

About Your Shop

1. Members: You may enter the names of any important individuals to your company’s success here. This information will be shown on your store’s page. Customers will know who is in charge of which items and how many shop members you have.

2. Story: This is where you’ll want to develop your shop’s narrative. For the time being, there’s nothing more to say on this topic. Fill in any gaps that may be apparent.

Options in Etsy Shop Manager

Here’s a list of all the settings that you may modify. They are relatively simple to understand.

There are four other tabs:

1. Holiday Mode:

When you’re on holiday, enable vacation mode so that purchases will not be sent out. Your objects will not appear in Etsy search results in this circumstance. If no one purchases the product within four months, it will be removed from the site.

If you activate this holiday mode, Etsy will no longer track the timings of your listings. Your listings will not be deleted even if you are away for four months. When you return and turn off the holiday mode, Etsy will restart the timer on your items.

2. Web Analytics:

Google Analytics is a popular tool for website builders. It may provide you with an in-depth look at your website’s traffic. To view that data, simply set up an account with Google Analytics. It’s completely free to use.

Simply input the ID in this box after you’ve created a profile. You may now view all of your Etsy store’s traffic data on Google Analytics.

3. Download Data:

Here you may find out how to access your store’s data. If you don’t want to use accounting software integrations, you’ll have to download the CSV files from here. If you don’t use accounting software integration, you may then file your own taxes and keep track of your company’s books.

4. Close Shop:

Hope that you dont need to click on this button. I will skip this.

Delivery Settings

US Free Delivery Guarantee:

Because Etsy is situated in the United States, it will try to provide more excellent discounts to US customers. If you can, enable free shipping for US customers here.

Delivery Profiles:

You may make a few of these here so that you can immediately pick a profile when you create or update a listing. All of this should be done in the listings to help speed things up.

Package Preferences:

You’re willing to pay this price for the bundle you want. This will save time when you’re creating or changing listings, as it’s comparable to delivery profiles. Etsy will also take this into account when calculating shipping costs. Postage labels will be generated based on this data as well.

Rates & Upgrades:

You may link to your Canada Post account by clicking here. If you provide free delivery throughout Canada or abroad, keep in mind that your purchasers cannot pick any paid shipping choices if you deactivate this option.

Production Partners

Because most Etsy sellers concentrate on handcrafted products, there are seldom any manufacturing partners.

However, if you’re offering your designs for sale, they will probably be produced using print-on-demand technology.

You will print the material from a printing firm that you choose. You may include the company’s name here.

Offsite Ads

On the whole, I don’t think it’s particularly beneficial. As a result, I’ve already turned it off. If you want to enable it, simply go to this page.

Languages and Translations

If you’re free, by all means go for it. I’m not able to do so at the moment. So far, I’ve only opened a small store.

Facebook Shops

We haven’t yet established a Facebook or Instagram store. I believe this may help you connect your Etsy shop manager to your Facebook and Instagram profiles.

Things that can only be changed on your shop homepage

There’s something else I need to mention. On the Etsy shop manager, a few features can’t be changed. To modify them, go to your shop’s homepage. A shop banner is one of them, which may be found on your store’s home page.

When we started our firm, the banner area was empty. We had to put the banner on the company’s main page. Shop banners are mainly used for aesthetic purposes. That is, in fact, your company policy in a nutshell.

You may use your Etsy shop’s terms of service to safeguard sellers. You have the choice to offer refunds and exchanges here. Remember that you can modify your store rules only on the Etsy shop manager, not on the seller site.

How to Use Etsy Shop Manager?

You manage your Etsy shop from Etsy Shop Manager. The Etsy Shop Manager is the Shopify admin tool that allows you to manage your listings, conversations, and orders as well as your promotional activities. In this section, you’ll learn how to utilize it to handle your shop’s finances, track statistics, and more.

When you click the Etsy Shop Manager link that appears along the top of every Etsy Marketplace page, the Shop Manager dashboard opens.

This dashboard provides several key pieces of information, all accessible at a glance:

  • This screen displays a list of open orders and active listings.
  • A list of unread conversations
  • A summary of your stats (including views, favorites, orders, and revenue)
  • Don’t forget to check your Etsy Shop Manager for Shop Advisor Notifications for messages from merchants who want access to your Shopify store’s subscription. You’ll get notifications whenever there’s a new case, information about a new one, or simply share helpful tips to help you run your business more efficiently.
  • Customers who like your Etsy store (or the shop itself) and make purchases there are also kept.
